RELATED GAMEDynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition RemasteredView coverage → Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered launched on October 1 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC via Steam. Developed by Omega Force and published by Koei Tecmo, it revives the entry that defined the series' formula, originally released in 2001 on PlayStation 2.
The previously announced version for the original Switch has been dropped. On Nintendo hardware, the game is available only on Switch 2.
What's in the package
The Complete Edition includes everything from Dynasty Warriors 3 and the Xtreme Legends expansion, which added stories for seven officers, including Lu Bu, Meng Huo and Yuan Shao, bodyguard customization, new weapons and four types of challenge modes. On top of that, the remaster adds stories and stages created specifically for this edition.
More than 40 officers and the original battlefields have been rebuilt in Unreal Engine 5, with remade character models, sharper textures and modern visual effects.

What changes in combat
The biggest addition is the ability to dodge and guard against attacks, which changes the pace of every fight. There is also a weapon fusion system that transfers effects from an old weapon to a new one, automatic item pickup and a brief window of invincibility when mounting and dismounting horses.
On the quality-of-life side, you can now quit mid-stage and resume later, and retry from checkpoints instead of replaying the whole battle. Every new feature can be toggled on or off for players who want something closer to the 2001 game.

Price and editions
The standard edition costs $39.99. The Digital Deluxe Edition costs $69.99 and adds 42 weapons, 42 retro costumes based on the original game, an officer concept art collection and in-game items.
Is Dynasty Warriors 3 Remastered good? What critics say
Reception is positive. At the time of writing, the game held a 79 average on OpenCritic from 21 reviews with a Strong rating, and a 74 Metascore on Metacritic based on seven reviews.
Outlets praise the visual leap and the new mechanics, which make combat feel fairer. The most common caveat is that stage design and parts of the structure still feel rooted in the early 2000s. Overall, critics see the remaster as the best way to play Dynasty Warriors 3 today, especially for fans of the musou genre.

Is it worth it?
If you played the original on PS2, or want to see where True Musou Attacks and simultaneous two-player play began, the remaster is the most complete version of this entry ever released. If musou games have never clicked for you, the new features help but do not change the core: hundreds of enemies on screen and straightforward combat.
