The Epic Games Store opened October with two free PC games: System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster and Buried Stars. Both can be claimed until Thursday, October 8, at 8 a.m. PT / 11 a.m. ET, and together they are worth $69.98 at full price.

Once this giveaway ends, the store will offer Out of Sight and TerraScape from October 8 to October 15.

System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster

Nightdive Studios' remaster updates the 1999 first-person horror RPG, one of the foundations of what later became BioShock. It features improved character and weapon models, new animations, refined controller support, quality-of-life improvements and cross-play online co-op. It normally costs $29.99.

Buried Stars

Buried Stars, from LINE Games, is a visual novel with investigation and light puzzles. The setup: a reality show studio collapses during filming, and the trapped contestants must talk, gather clues and work out what happened while trying to escape. The game launched on PC in 2021.

Out of Sight

Out of Sight is a horror puzzle adventure. You follow Sophie, a blind girl trying to escape a haunted mansion, who sees her surroundings through the eyes of her teddy bear, Teddy. The idea creates a second-person perspective where you guide the protagonist without being spotted.

TerraScape

TerraScape is a medieval city-building puzzler set on floating islands. Instead of managing resources and combat, the goal is to place each building in the best spot to score points, in calmer sessions.

How to claim Epic's free games

Sign in to your Epic Games account on the website or in the launcher, open the game's store page during the giveaway and click Get. Once claimed, the game stays in your library permanently, even if you install it later.

Tip: the free games rotate every Thursday at 11 a.m. ET. Claim System Shock 2 and Buried Stars before October 8, even if you don't plan to play them right away.
