Forza Horizon 6 finally has a PS5 release date: January 26, 2027. Playground Games opened PS5 pre-orders on October 8 and confirmed that the port arrives alongside the game's first Premium Expansion, which also lands on Xbox and PC that same week.

That puts the PS5 version later than the 2026 window Playground had been pointing to, but it also means PlayStation players start with a bigger game than Xbox and Steam players got in May, plus full cross-play and cross-save from day one.

Forza Horizon 6 PS5 release date and early access

The Standard and Deluxe editions unlock on PS5 on January 26, 2027. Premium Edition buyers get up to five days of Early Access starting January 21, 2027, unlocking at 12:01 a.m. local time. In the US, Playground says that means 12:01 a.m. Eastern, which works out to 9 p.m. Pacific the night before.

The game will be sold digitally on the PlayStation Store and on disc at participating retailers. The PS5 version is its own product: owning Forza Horizon 6 on Xbox or Steam does not give you a free PlayStation copy, and DLC also has to be bought separately on each platform.

Editions and price

According to the official Forza Horizon 6 on PlayStation 5 FAQ, these are the PS5 prices in the US:

  • Standard Edition – $69.99: the full game.
  • Deluxe Edition – $99.99: adds the Welcome Pack and the Car Pass (30 cars).
  • Premium Edition – $119.99: adds Early Access, VIP Membership, the Time Attack Car Pack (8 cars), the Italian Passion Car Pack (4 cars), the first Premium Expansion and the second one when it releases.
  • Premium Upgrade – $59.99: for Standard or Deluxe owners who want the Premium extras later.

Every PS5 pre-order also includes a pre-tuned Ferrari J50, delivered to your garage after the prologue.

The first expansion arrives on January 21

Playground has not named the first Premium Expansion yet, but it confirmed that it adds a new location, new gameplay and more cars. It launches on January 21, 2027 on all platforms, so Xbox and Steam players get it on the same day PS5 Premium owners start their Early Access. It is included in the Premium Edition, the Premium Upgrade and the Expansions Bundle, and can also be bought on its own.

A free content update is also planned to release alongside the PS5 version and the expansion. Details on both are promised closer to launch.

Performance, cross-play and what PS5 players need

The PS5 port is handled by Panic Button, the studio behind the PS5 version of Forza Horizon 5, working with Playground Games and Turn 10. All PS5 models get two graphics options: a 4K, 30 fps Quality mode and a 60 fps Performance mode. Playground has not detailed PS5 Pro enhancements.

A few requirements are worth knowing before you pre-order:

  • Microsoft account: you must link one to your PSN account the first time you launch the game. The link is permanent for this title.
  • PlayStation Plus: required for online multiplayer. Solo and offline play do not need a subscription.
  • Cross-play: on by default, and it can be turned off in the game or console settings.
  • Cross-save: progress carries between PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Steam when you use the same Microsoft account.

The DualSense gets haptic and adaptive trigger effects for wheel slip, threshold braking and surface changes. There is a full trophy list with a Platinum, the game supports PlayStation Portal through Remote Play, and it is not a VR game, though PS VR2 owners can play it in Cinematic Mode.

What Forza Horizon 6 is, if you skipped it on Xbox

Forza Horizon 6 launched in May 2026 on Xbox Series X|S and PC, including Game Pass, and moves the open-world racing series to Japan. It has more than 550 real-world cars, and its Tokyo City area is described as the largest urban space in any Forza Horizon game. Since launch it has received six months of updates, including the Drift Attack feature.

User-generated content is shared across platforms from day one on PS5, including EventLab races, liveries, tuning setups and Estates, so PlayStation players will not start with an empty creative scene.

What this means for players

For PlayStation owners, the wait is longer than expected, but the January date comes with a clear package: a known price, a first expansion on day one for Premium buyers and the same online world as Xbox and PC. Xbox and Steam players also get a new date to circle, since January 21 is when the first expansion goes live for everyone.
