Geralt is about to return to the Path. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered launches September 29, 2026 on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2, bringing another major modernization to one of gaming's most successful RPGs.

The biggest news for existing owners is that CD PROJEKT RED is offering Remastered as a free upgrade on qualifying platforms. The new edition also includes Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine, the two major expansions originally released for the game.

The launch arrives more than 11 years after The Witcher 3's original release and begins a new sequence of Witcher releases planned by CD PROJEKT RED.

When does The Witcher 3 Remastered launch?

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered launches worldwide on September 29, 2026.

The new version will be available on PC through GOG, Steam, Epic Games Store and, for the first time, Battle.net. On consoles, Remastered launches on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2.

CD PROJEKT RED also published global release timing ahead of launch, allowing players to determine when the new version becomes available in their region.

Is The Witcher 3 Remastered free for existing owners?

Yes, on qualifying platforms.

According to CD PROJEKT RED, players who own The Witcher 3 on GOG, Steam, Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S can upgrade to Remastered for free.

Owners of The Witcher 3 on the original Nintendo Switch will also be able to claim Remastered on Nintendo Switch 2 when it launches.

Battle.net represents a new platform for the game and is available separately.

Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine are included

The upgrade comes with another significant benefit: owners of the base game gain access to Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine at no additional cost.

Both expansions are also included as part of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered.

That makes the new edition a package containing Geralt's main campaign and both major expansions in a modernized version.

What changes in The Witcher 3 Remastered?

CD PROJEKT RED describes Remastered as a modernization of The Witcher 3 featuring upgrades to visuals, performance, gameplay and other parts of the experience.

Announced improvements include upgraded textures for environments, NPCs and monsters, significant foliage enhancements and reworked lighting and rendering.

Ray tracing has also been improved to bring additional detail and visual depth to the Continent.

The new version therefore goes beyond simply increasing resolution or frame rate, with CD PROJEKT RED targeting several parts of the original experience.

Nintendo Switch 2 gets a native version

The release also marks the debut of a native version of The Witcher 3 on Nintendo Switch 2.

CD PROJEKT RED says Remastered takes advantage of Nintendo's newer hardware and includes the base game, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine.

Owners of the original Nintendo Switch version can claim the Remastered upgrade on Switch 2 at no additional cost.

New players can also purchase the native Nintendo Switch 2 edition.

The Witcher 3 comes to Battle.net

Another major addition is The Witcher 3's arrival on Battle.net.

The release is part of a partnership between CD PROJEKT RED and Blizzard Entertainment and arrives on the same day as Remastered on the other platforms.

It represents another expansion in distribution for an RPG that has sold more than 65 million copies since its original launch.

Remastered begins a new run of Witcher releases

The Remastered release also occupies an important position in the franchise's future roadmap.

CD PROJEKT RED has outlined plans for major Witcher-related releases across the coming years.

Following Remastered in 2026, the Songs of the Past expansion is planned for 2027. The company has also indicated a planned 2028 release window for The Witcher 4.

Songs of the Past will be a new expansion for The Witcher 3 developed in collaboration with Fool's Theory, taking Geralt to a new region called Letten.

Is now the right time to return to The Witcher 3?

The arrival of Remastered creates a particularly compelling opportunity for people who already own the RPG.

Alongside the free upgrade on qualifying platforms, the inclusion of Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine lowers the barrier for players who never experienced all of The Witcher 3's major content.

For newcomers, Remastered becomes the modernized version of Geralt's adventure ahead of the next expansion and the franchise's eventual transition toward The Witcher 4.

More than a decade after its original release, The Witcher 3 is about to begin another chapter in its unusually long life.
