Clive Barker's Hellraiser: Revival is out now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC via Steam, with the Standard Edition priced at $39.99 and the Deluxe Edition at $49.99. Saber Interactive's first-person survival horror game brings the Cenobites back just in time for Halloween, and original Pinhead actor Doug Bradley returns to the role.

It is the most high-profile Hellraiser game so far and one of October's biggest horror launches. Below is what it costs, what each edition includes, what your PC needs and what is still unknown on launch day.

What is Hellraiser: Revival about?

You play as Aidan, who uses the Genesis Configuration, the series' iconic puzzle box, to try to free his girlfriend Sunny from the Labyrinth. Along the way he has to bargain with Pinhead and fight the cult that serves the Cenobites, and he ends up setting Pinhead's ritual in motion.

Saber presents the story as a new chapter of the Hellraiser canon, written with Clive Barker. Doug Bradley, who played Pinhead in the original films, voices the character again, and Xalavier Nelson Jr. voices Aidan.

How the combat works

Revival mixes melee, firearms and stealth from a first-person view. Blunt weapons break enemy armor, sharp weapons work best on unarmored foes, and melee weapons break after a set number of uses, so scavenging never stops. You can also craft healing items and ammunition, and sneak past enemies you cannot beat.

The puzzle box is the centerpiece. It works as a weapon, grants powers such as pyrokinesis, telekinesis and Hell Chains, and is used to solve puzzles and transform the Labyrinth. Enemies range from cultists and deviants to Hell's infernal priests.

Reviews, demo and what comes next

On launch morning, neither Metacritic nor OpenCritic listed critic scores yet, so there is no aggregate verdict to point to. Earlier previews, including a 45-minute demo shown at Gamescom 2025, focused on its brutal tone and puzzle-box combat. A free demo is still available on Steam if you want to try it before buying.

A word of warning: the Steam listing flags strong violence, gore, torture, mutilation, sexual content and other mature themes. This is very much a Hellraiser story, and it does not tone things down.

If Revival is not quite your kind of scare, our list of the best horror games to play this Halloween has more picks, and Silver Pines, another horror game released the same day, is earning some of the year's best reviews.
