The figure was recorded during Team Liquid versus Paper Rex, making it the most-watched match of the tournament so far.

The tournament is still in its earliest stage and the numbers can change significantly as it progresses, but the start gives VALORANT's biggest competitive event a substantial audience base.

In addition to the 605,896 peak viewers, available data after the tournament's opening showed more than 3.3 million hours watched and an average audience above 340,000 viewers during the airtime tracked by the service.

With Champions continuing through October 18, these early figures represent only a small portion of the total audience the world championship could accumulate.

Other group-stage matches also attracted sizeable audiences. G2 Esports versus TYLOO exceeded 398,000 peak viewers, while NRG versus Nongshim RedForce on day two surpassed 386,000, according to figures published by Esports Charts.

Those numbers matter because the tournament remains in its opening stage, before the elimination matches and grand final that can generate some of the biggest audience moments of an esports event.

How VALORANT Champions 2026 works

Riot Games confirmed 16 teams for Champions Shanghai, representing the Americas, China, EMEA and Pacific regions.

The group stage runs from September 24 through October 4. Teams are divided into four groups and play best-of-three matches. Two losses eliminate a team, with only eight advancing.

The playoffs begin October 7 using a double-elimination format. The world championship grand final is scheduled for October 18.

The competition begins at Jing'an Sports Center before the Finals Weekend moves to Mercedes-Benz Arena in Shanghai.
