RELATED GAMEPEAKView coverage → PEAK is leaving PC exclusivity. Aggro Crab and Landfall confirmed that the co-op climbing hit arrives on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2 on October 22, 2026, with crossplay so console players can climb with friends on Steam.
The PEAK PS5, Xbox and Switch 2 versions matter because the game became one of 2025's surprise co-op successes on Steam, and many friend groups could not play together until now. Here is what is included, how multiplayer works and what we know about the physical edition.

PEAK PS5, Xbox and Switch 2 release: what was announced
The studios revealed the date on October 15 with a console announcement trailer. In a post on the PlayStation Blog, Landfall's head of community Hanna Fogelberg confirmed the PS5 launch on October 22 and said players can climb with up to three friends regardless of platform. Gematsu and Nintendo Everything reported that the Xbox Series X|S and Switch 2 versions launch the same day, with the Switch 2 release starting as a digital download.
Console prices were not listed in the official posts we checked. For reference, PEAK costs $7.99 on Steam, where it has an Overwhelmingly Positive rating from more than 146,000 English-language reviews. Check the PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store and Nintendo eShop for the final price on launch day.
What's included and how co-op works
Console players will not start behind. According to the PlayStation Blog post, the PS5 version includes every content update, biome and item released since the PC launch. That also covers custom runs, which let you make a climb easier or harder and even kick your friends.
The core loop is unchanged. You play solo or with up to three other lost scouts, scavenging food, managing injuries that eat into your stamina and helping each other with ropes and climbing spikes. The mountain's layout changes every 24 hours, and proximity voice chat is a big part of the chaos.
One thing to know before you buy: on PC, PEAK is a friends-only game with no public matchmaking. The console announcement promises crossplay with friends, not a new way to join strangers, so plan on bringing your own group or playing solo.
A few details are still open. The official posts we checked do not list console prices, download sizes or performance targets for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Switch 2, and the physical edition has so far only been announced for PS5. Expect those answers when the store pages go live closer to launch.

PEAK physical edition for PS5
A boxed version is also on the way. As reported by Noisy Pixel and Gematsu, Skybound Games will release a physical PS5 edition on December 9, 2026, for $19.99 / €19.99 / £14.99. It includes the game disc, a Buddy Code that gives a friend a digital copy on PS5, and a printed Scout Passport with stickers for customizing your character. Pre-orders are open at participating retailers.
The Buddy Code is a smart fit for a game built around groups: one purchase gets two people onto the mountain.

From game jam to viral hit, and what it means for players
PEAK started as a one-month game jam in Seoul in February 2025, with three developers from Aggro Crab and four from Landfall, and the team finished it in Sweden before the June 16, 2025 Steam launch. Its low price and friendship-based chaos turned it into a streaming and word-of-mouth favorite.
For players, the console launch removes the main barrier: friends no longer need a gaming PC to join. If your group is split across PS5, Xbox, Switch 2 and Steam, October 22 is the first day you can all rope up together.
