The Resident Evil Switch 2 lineup just got its three most requested remakes. Resident Evil 2 Deluxe Edition, Resident Evil 3 and Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition launched on the Nintendo Switch 2 eShop on October 16, 2026, just in time for Halloween, with launch discounts that run until November 7.

It matters because these are native Switch 2 versions, not the cloud-streaming editions the first Switch received. Here is what each game costs, what is included, what is missing and when boxed copies arrive.

Resident Evil on Switch 2: what launched and when

Capcom confirmed the plan in a September 10 press release: digital versions of all three remakes on October 16, followed by physical editions on January 29, 2027. The games are sold separately; Capcom has not announced a trilogy bundle.

The three remakes join Resident Evil 7 biohazard Gold Edition, Resident Evil Village Gold Edition and Resident Evil Requiem, which are already on Switch 2. That means the console now has every modern mainline entry from the 2019 Resident Evil 2 remake to Requiem, all playable on TV, in tabletop mode or handheld.

Prices and launch discounts

These are the US eShop prices reported at launch, with the early adopter discounts listed on Capcom's official Switch 2 portal:

  • Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition: $49.99, or $39.99 during the launch sale (20% off).
  • Resident Evil 2 Deluxe Edition: $39.99, or $29.99 during the launch sale (25% off).
  • Resident Evil 3: $29.99, or $19.79 during the launch sale (about a third off).

Buying all three during the promotion costs $89.77 instead of $119.97. The discount ends on November 7, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Pacific. Prices in other regions vary, so check your local eShop before buying.

What each Switch 2 edition includes

Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition is the most complete package. It adds the Separate Ways scenario starring Ada Wong, The Mercenaries mode, the Treasure Map expansion, extra costumes and filters, deluxe weapons, attaché cases and charms. It is also the first time the 2023 remake has come to a Nintendo console.

Resident Evil 2 Deluxe Edition includes the main game, extra costumes for Leon and Claire, three Samurai Edge deluxe weapons and an option to swap in the original 1998 soundtrack.

Resident Evil 3 is the main campaign only. Capcom's portal states that Resident Evil Resistance, the online asymmetric mode bundled on other platforms, is not included.

What this means for Switch players

If you bought the Cloud Versions of Resident Evil 2 or 3 on the original Switch, there is no upgrade path. Capcom says save data from those cloud releases cannot be shared or transferred, and no discount for previous owners has been announced, so you start from scratch.

The official materials we checked do not list resolution, frame rate targets or download sizes. If performance matters to you, the eShop pages and early player impressions are the best place to check before the discount ends. For collectors, waiting until January 29 for the physical versions is the other option.

The release also gives Switch 2 owners a complete path through the modern series. Resident Evil passed 213 million units sold as of June 30, 2026, according to Capcom, and these three remakes are among its most popular entries.

What comes next from Capcom on Switch 2

Capcom's next big Switch 2 release is Monster Hunter Wilds on December 4, and its Switch 2 demo arrives on October 19. The Wilds: Ascendance expansion follows on Switch 2 in 2027.
