The wait for 007 First Light on Switch 2 finally has an end date. IO Interactive and Amazon MGM Studios confirmed that the Nintendo version of the James Bond origin story launches on March 18, 2027, and pre-orders are already open.

That is almost ten months after the game reached PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Here is what the Switch 2 Deluxe Edition costs, what the pre-order bonus includes and why this version took so long.

007 First Light Switch 2 release date: what was announced

The date was revealed on October 14 in an official announcement from IO Interactive, alongside a new gameplay trailer of the Switch 2 build. Pre-orders are live on the Nintendo Store, Amazon.com and selected retailers.

IOI says playable Switch 2 builds shown at gamescom and Tokyo Game Show got a positive response, and that the team will use the coming months to refine optimization and performance so the game meets the standard players expect at launch.

Deluxe Edition price and pre-order bonus

The only Switch 2 edition with an official price so far is the Deluxe Edition at $69.99 / €69.99 / £69.99. It includes:

  • Early access at launch to the GoldenEye Suit, a pre-order bonus.
  • Four gadget skins: the Gleaming Lighter, Gleaming Earphones, Gleaming Dart Gun and Gleaming Pen.
  • Four outfits: Day of the Dead, Desert Explorer, Silent Anchor and Gentleman Operator.

There is also a Switch 2 Special Edition sold exclusively through Amazon.com that adds Bond's Classic Tuxedo, but its price was not listed in the announcement. A standard edition price for Switch 2 has not been confirmed either.

The GoldenEye Suit is a clear nod to Nintendo history: GoldenEye 007 on the Nintendo 64 remains one of the best-known Bond games ever made.

Why the Switch 2 version took so long

007 First Light was originally planned for March 27, 2026 on every platform. It slipped to May 27, 2026, when it launched on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, while the Switch 2 version was pushed back on its own, first to later in 2026 and then, in September, to March 2027 without a specific day.

According to VGC, technical producer Cristina Vega said the September delay was not caused by unexpected problems; the team needed a break, and marketing requests and other factors played a role. The goal, she said, is for Switch 2 players to get the game in its most polished form.

What it means for Switch 2 players

007 First Light is a third-person action-adventure from the studio behind Hitman, with an original story about a young Bond earning his place at MI6. For Nintendo fans, it is one of the biggest third-party releases on the 2027 calendar.

The open questions are performance and file size. IOI has not shared resolution or frame rate targets for Switch 2, so if you care about how it runs, waiting for previews closer to March costs you nothing but the GoldenEye Suit early access. If you play on PC, PS5 or Xbox, the game is already available.

On PC, the game is sold on Steam and the Epic Games Store. Pre-ordering on Switch 2 right now mainly secures early access to the GoldenEye Suit; with only the Deluxe Edition price announced, there is no confirmed saving for buying early. Expect the standard edition price and the download size to appear once the Nintendo eShop listing is fully updated closer to launch.
