BeamNG.drive is now available on PS5. The soft-body physics sandbox entered PlayStation Early Access on October 19, 2026, priced at $24.99 in the US, ending more than a decade of PC exclusivity for one of the most-watched driving games on YouTube and Twitch.

The console launch arrived on the same day as the big v0.40 update on PC. Below is what the PS5 version includes, how split-screen and wheel support work, and the one big feature PlayStation players will not get at launch.

BeamNG.drive PS5 price and what you get

BeamNG GmbH publishes the game itself on the PlayStation Store, where it is listed as a PS5 Early Access title with a PS5 Pro Enhanced version. The store page promises dozens of customizable vehicles, more than 12 open-world environments and three core ways to play: Free Roam, Scenarios and Time Trials. The developer's launch announcement also lists Career Mode, along with deliveries, police pursuits and other scenario types.

On the technical side, BeamNG says the PS5 Pro version supports PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution, while the standard PS5 uses AMD FSR 3. The DualSense gets vibration and adaptive trigger effects, and the store lists 17 accessibility features, including full button remapping and adjustable stick sensitivity.

Because this is Early Access, the game is still in active development. On PC, BeamNG.drive has been in Early Access since May 2015 and receives large free updates every few months, and the studio says it aims for feature parity across platforms where possible.

Split-screen multiplayer: up to four players on PS5

The headline feature of the v0.40 release notes is local split-screen multiplayer, and it is part of the PS5 launch. Up to four players can share one PS5 (the PC version goes as high as 64), and the PlayStation system handles which controller belongs to which player.

Split-screen comes with seven modes: Race, Drag Race, Pursuit, Derby, Drift, Rock Crawling and Soccer. Race mode works with more than 85 existing track layouts. The PlayStation Store lists the game as offline play for one to four players and does not list online multiplayer, so for now BeamNG on PS5 is a couch game rather than an online one.

Which steering wheels work with BeamNG.drive on PS5

Wheel support is new on PS5, and BeamNG has published a launch list of officially supported models:

  • Fanatec: ClubSport DD+ for PS and Gran Turismo DD PRO.
  • Logitech: G29, G923, RS50 and G Pro for PS.
  • Thrustmaster: T248 for PS, T598, T98 Ferrari 296 GTB, TGT2 and T300 RS.

BeamNG warns that wheels outside this list may only partly work or not work at all, and that some listed wheels cannot assign every button yet. If you own an older or less common wheel, it is worth waiting for player reports before buying.

No mods at launch: what PS5 players are missing

The biggest difference from PC is mods. A huge part of BeamNG's appeal on PC comes from community vehicles and maps, but mod support is not available on PS5 at launch. BeamNG says the timing and scope of console mods are still unconfirmed, and creation tools such as the World Editor are not currently planned for PlayStation.

Everything else in v0.40 arrives on both platforms, including the Cherrier Percheron, a European cab-over semi truck with more than 50 chassis setups, new European trailers, a rally co-driver who now sits beside you, a walking mode with physical seating and a new First Drive tutorial that replaces the old Freeroam one.

Should you buy BeamNG.drive on PS5?

At $24.99, the PS5 version is an easy recommendation if you mainly want the physics, crashes and couch multiplayer that made the game famous. If your interest in BeamNG comes from modded cars and maps, the PC version is still the complete package for now.

PS5 driving fans also have more on the way: Forza Horizon 6 reaches PS5 on January 26, 2027. If you are deciding what to play next, our guide to the best racing games compares BeamNG with the other big names in the genre.
