Diablo 5 Is Officially Announced by Blizzard

The wait for the next major chapter of Diablo has officially begun.

Blizzard announced Diablo V during BlizzCon 2026, confirming that the next mainline game in the franchise is now in development.

The reveal marks the beginning of a new era for the series while Diablo IV continues to receive updates and new content.

And the first premise revealed for the new game is particularly dark: Sanctuary is facing a reality in which Diablo has won.

When Will Diablo 5 Be Released?

Blizzard has given Diablo V a planned release window of spring 2029.

That puts the game several years away and means much of its development will continue while Diablo IV remains active.

It also means information such as pricing, editions, PC system requirements and complete platform details may still be a long way from being revealed.

BlizzCon 2026 also demonstrated that Blizzard's plans for Diablo extend beyond video games.

An animated Diablo series is being developed with Netflix, bringing the franchise to another major entertainment medium.
