Nintendo Switch Sports Resort launches on Thursday, October 22, 2026, exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2. It brings 12 motion-controlled sports to Wuhu Island, the holiday setting first seen in Wii Sports Resort, and it is the first new entry in the series since Nintendo Switch Sports in 2022.

With launch three days away, this is everything confirmed so far: the price, the full sports list, the new modes, how online play works and what comes in the Switch 2 bundle.

Nintendo Switch Sports Resort release date and price

Nintendo revealed the game in June and lists it on its official pages for release on October 22 worldwide. Pre-orders are already open on the Nintendo eShop.

In the US, the digital version is listed at $49.99 on the eShop, while physical copies are listed at $59.99 at retailers such as Best Buy and GameStop. The download takes 10.3 GB, according to Nintendo's European game page, so it is worth checking your storage before Thursday.

All 12 sports in Nintendo Switch Sports Resort

According to Nintendo's official announcement, the game includes nine competitive sports and three leisure activities:

  • Sports: Boxing, Table Tennis, Archery, Tennis, Volleyball, Bowling, Basketball, Golf and Thumb Wrestling.
  • Leisure sports: Skateboarding, Power Cruising and Prop Plane.
  • Warm-up: Jump Rope.

The Joy-Con 2 controllers double as rackets, bows and handlebars, and Skateboarding uses the controllers' mouse controls. Badminton, Chambara and Soccer from Nintendo Switch Sports are not on the list. Hands-on previews, such as ComicBook's, also describe a 100-pin variant of Bowling.

Wuhu Island, Island Crown and customization

The biggest change from the last game is the setting. Wuhu Island can be explored freely: Nintendo mentions chasing dolphins in the ocean, hunting for hidden hibiscus flowers and collecting Spocco Photos that teach you about sightseeing spots around the resort.

There is also a new offline mode called Island Crown, in which you climb the ranks of each sport to challenge Island Champions and, later, Island Legends. Playing any sport in any mode earns Spocco Points, which you can spend at the Item Center on outfits and items for your Mii or Sportsmate.

Online play and player counts

Up to four people can play on one console. Online play requires a paid Nintendo Switch Online membership, and the official game page lists two options: Casual Online Play, where wins and losses are not recorded, and a ranked Pro League.

Online player counts vary by sport. Bowling supports the most, with up to 16 players online, and Golf supports up to eight. Boxing, Table Tennis and Thumb Wrestling are limited to two players online, while the other sports allow up to four.

What comes in the Switch 2 + Sports Resort bundle

For new players, Nintendo is also releasing a Nintendo Switch 2 + Nintendo Switch Sports Resort bundle on the same day for $529.99 in the US. It includes the console, a digital copy of the game and a three-month Nintendo Switch Online individual membership, which covers the online modes from day one. Nintendo puts the saving at $27.98 compared with buying each item separately.
