Tomb Raider is officially 30 years old, and the celebration is pointing straight at the next game. To mark the anniversary, Amazon Game Studios and Crystal Dynamics released a new teaser for Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, the Unreal Engine 5 reimagining of Lara Croft's 1996 debut that launches on February 12, 2027.

The birthday also comes with music and art: a lo-fi album built from the series' soundtracks, new official artwork and more than 500 Tomb Raider tracks heading to streaming services in November. Here is everything that was announced and what it means if you are waiting for Lara's next adventure.

Tomb Raider Legacy of Atlantis: what the anniversary brought

The new teaser for Legacy of Atlantis went live on October 25 as part of the 30th anniversary push. It is a short celebration piece rather than a full gameplay showcase, and it does not change anything about the launch plan: the release date, platforms and editions all stay as previously announced.

On the official Tomb Raider site, Crystal Dynamics listed the rest of the anniversary plans:

  • Tomb Raider: 30th Anniversary Lo-Fi Collection: an album by ThatNorskChick that remixes music from across the series and samples voice lines from Alix Wilton Regan, the new voice of Lara in Legacy of Atlantis. It is on YouTube now, with other platforms coming.
  • 500+ official tracks on streaming in November: prepared with Harry Hinds of the Music of Tomb Raider project, including new albums, compilations and tracks that were never on streaming before.
  • New artwork: a tarot-style piece by Inna Vjuzhanina that puts the original Core Design Lara side by side with the Legacy of Atlantis Lara, plus wallpapers on the series' official Flickr.

There were also fan celebrations in Derby, England, the city where Core Design created the original game in the 1990s.

Release date, platforms and editions

According to the official Legacy of Atlantis site, the game launches on February 12, 2027 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC (Steam). Pre-orders are open on all four storefronts, in three editions:

  • Standard Edition: the base game plus the Lara Croft Survivor Outfit as a pre-order bonus.
  • Deluxe Edition: adds 48-hour early access and the Parisian Fugitive Outfit DLC story pack.
  • Collector's Edition: everything in the Deluxe Edition plus a T-Rex statue, a mini art book, a keychain, a Croft signet pin and a premium steelbook case.

Linking an Amazon Games iD account to Steam, PlayStation Network or Xbox also unlocks a free Mediterranean Wetsuit Outfit at launch. Prices vary by store and region, so check your platform before you buy.

What Legacy of Atlantis changes from the 1996 original

This is not a simple remaster. Crystal Dynamics and Flying Wild Hog are rebuilding the first adventure from scratch, keeping the route through Peru, Greece, Egypt and a mysterious island while modernizing how Lara moves and fights. Traversal now includes a grappling hook, puzzles revolve around water, light and symbols, and combat keeps Lara's trademark dual pistols alongside unlockable weapons.

The game features full voice acting and text in English, French, German, Latin American Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Polish and Simplified Chinese, with text-only support for Italian, European Spanish, Japanese, Korean and Traditional Chinese.

What it means for players, and what comes next

For players, the anniversary is mostly a reminder that the wait is now under four months. If you already pre-ordered, nothing changes. If you are deciding between editions, the Deluxe Edition's 48-hour early access is the main practical difference, since the cosmetic extras do not affect the story.

Legacy of Atlantis is only half of Amazon's Tomb Raider plan. Tomb Raider: Catalyst, a new adventure set in Northern India years after Tomb Raider: Underworld, was revealed alongside it at The Game Awards 2025 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Its official window is still 2027, although Amazon's games chief referred to a 2028 release in an interview in July, so treat that date with caution until it is confirmed.
